I opened my eyes with some difficulty. My back hurt, and I felt my breathing was labored. I couldn't quite remember what happened; all I could feel was the heaviness of my body and the pain in it. I was in a hospital bed, and as my vision cleared, I sat up. I had an IV drip, a neck brace, and some glass cuts on my arms.

Then I started to remember what had happened: the wolf and Kessler. That huge wolf had thrown me with great force towards Kessler's car, and after that, I didn't remember anything.

God, I thought I was going to die. I took a deep breath, feeling the pain in my chest as I breathed.

Where is everyone? I looked around to find the button to call the nurses, and when I found it, I pressed it.

Dad must be really worried; I hate giving my father worries. The door opens, and a nurse appears.

"Good morning, Miss Bailey, how are you feeling?"

"Sore," I said. "Is my father around?"

"Yes, your brother and your boyfriend too. They've been waiting all night for you to wake up."
