chapter 6

Daisy was determined to prove her abilities to Harper, determined to complete the task he had assigned her. She realized she needed specific files stored in the company's archive to complete the work effectively. Considering the volume of files needed, she chose to work from the storage room to ensure she had access to everything she needed.

Daisy was immersed in her work the entire time. The hours passed quickly. Her intense focus was shattered when she realized the door to the storage room had been locked, trapping her inside. As the reality of her situation dawned on her, a wave of unease washed over her. The dim light that had been her companion now seemed to cast uncertain shadows.

As if fate was testing her, the light in the room suddenly flickered and went out plunging Daisy into darkness, she fumbled for her phone, and with a sigh of dismay she noticed that it was already past eight in the evening,

Daisy regained her composure and dashed to the closed door, knocking, hoping that someone would hear and come to her rescue. Her suffocating sense of being trapped had grown stronger, and her racing heartbeat mirrored her growing anxiety. The storage room's walls seemed to close in on her, heightening her anxiety.

Daisy's screams and constant banging on the door echoed through the storage room.

The sound of footsteps from behind reached her ears amid her frantic efforts. Her heart rate increased, and a shiver ran down her spine. Without turning around, her thoughts raced to a surreal conclusion: it had to be a ghost. Her imagination ran wild in the darkness as her fear intensified, the footstep fell ominously closed

“Genie please don’t hurt me” Daisy trembling voice quivered in the dark room “I just want to go out”

“Shut up, you idiot”

Daisy's nerves were already frazzled when a familiar voice pierced through the darkness. The words were sharp and cutting, and a surge of recognition jolted her to her core as her mind processed them. She slowly turned around, her eyes widening as they met Harper's familiar figure standing in the dimness, a mixture of relief and disbelief.

Daisy's voice trembled as she addressed Harper as

"Mr. William,"

His presence, which had previously irritated her, now brought a sense of relief after the initial shock.

Harper's gaze remained fixed on her, with each step Harper took towards her, Daisy's breath caught in her throat, and she took a step back, her apprehension growing, she stuttered

“Wh…" what are you doing???”

As Harper advanced continue, Daisy's back met the cold wall, leaving her trapped between the wall and Harper, she squeezed her eyes shut as a wave of fear washed over her, and a thought crossed her

‘is he going to take advantage of the situation’

Harper maintains his steady gaze on Daisy, who closes her eyes tightly. An almost imperceptible hint of amusement played at the corner of his lip as he observed her reaction, lifting his hand he reached behind Daisy and unbuttoned the switch that controlled the light, with a soft click the room was illuminated casting aside the shadows which have previously enveloped them.

Harper took a step back, allowing space between himself and Daisy. He retrieved a chair and set on it. His movements were measured and calm. His initial visit to the archives was to retrieve some items, but after seeing Daisy in the dimly lit room, his suspicious personality kicked in, and he chose to stay to observe her from the shadows

Daisy opened her eyes when she felt nothing unusual. She wanted to slap herself on the dirty thought she was having.

She looked at Harper, who was lazily sitting on a chair and came in front of him

“Mr. William, I think you need to ask your assistant to open the door,"

her words carrying a touch of authority. Her tone was unmistakable, and she waited for Harper's response with a determined gaze.

"If I had a phone with me, do I need to stay with you at this moment in this place?"

Harper retorted; his voice slightly exasperated. He was becoming increasingly frustrated with the situation they were in.

Daisy, putting her earlier reservations aside, took a seat next to Harper in this moment of mutual annoyance. "Are we going to spend all night here?" she asked innocently.

To relieve the tension, Harper replied sternly, "Miss Daisy, can't you be quiet for a moment?" The veins on his forehead indicated the stress he was under.

A brief silence followed, but it was brief. Daisy, seemingly unable to suppress her desire to speak, inquired, "Why do I have to be quiet? "I can do whatever I want." Harper shot her a glare that temporarily silenced her.

however, the silence was broken after half an hour when Daisy began singing a song, "I want to touch the sky like a butterfly, I want to fly high to achieve the..." Harper's patience had run out before she could continue. "Shut up!" he yelled as he banged his hand on the table. Daisy's impromptu performance was cut short by the sudden noise, leaving a tense silence in its wake.

Daisy, attempting to divert her attention. Started singing a song, trying not to feel the confines of the enclosed space without any windows. However, Harper’s fury escalated the situation, and her breathing became uneven.

“Where is your inhaler?”

Harper asked, looking for her stuff.

“i… I don’t have,” Daisy stammered

She had only come down for work and didn’t bring anything with her, not even her mobile phone.

Harper took a deep breath, seemingly attempting to console her, Gently, he said

“Listen to me, Daisy. Take a deep breath.” Surprisingly, his voice carried a touch of warmth and concern, a stark contrast to his usual demeanour.

Following Harper’s guidance, Daisy took deep breaths until her breathing normalized.

Harper, once again in control of the situation, returned to his seat. Daisy looked at him with gratitude and thanked him in a surprisingly polite manner.

“hmm”

Harper acknowledged. Daisy, feeling assured, put her head on the table and drifted to sleep. When she woke up, it was already past eleven, and the atmosphere in the storage room had transformed from tension to a quiet stillness.
