Chapter 29: The devil you know

I crouched on my bed, hugging my pillow closely to my chest. I was to cry, I was supposed to be scared and terrified, I had never seen him like that before and his actions were very scary but instead, I felt worried, not about me but about him.

I knew him too much already and even I knew that no matter how angry he would get, never would he have reacted so rashly.

His golden yellow eyes flashed before my eyes, the glow in it that represented a feeling I had never seen him portray before, he was scared.

I didn't know of what but I was a hundred and one percent sure that something probably bigger than him was going on in his life but maybe he wasn't supposed to tell anyone.

Was he stuck between the anvil and the hammer?

"What are you thinking about?" Jacob's voice snapped me out of my soliloquy. He was already on the bed by the time I noticed him and he pulled me into his embrace.

"Nothing actually." I forced a smile.
