Chapter Thirty-six

Elsa's POV

I lay on the floor, with Aby by my side as I hummed a song that my mother used to sing. She called it the song of hope and she always sang it despite the hardships and sufferings that she faced.

That memory was one of the few things I remembered about her. I couldn't even remember what she looked like anymore, even though I could still pick out a thing or two. She was blonde like me and I used to think she was a tall woman, but it could have just been because I was very tiny and so everyone looked tall in my eyes.

Each time she sang or hummed it, her face beamed with smiles and it seemed to give her some hope of something better. It didn't get better but she never lost hope.

So as we lay down there, tired and famished, having not had anything to eat since we were taken in, I refused to lose hope. Somehow, I believed that help was going to come even if it wasn't from Prince Murray.
