Chapter 4

Kiara's POV

When I woke up Valentina was still asleep. I didn't want to wake her up, so I tried to get up as quietly as I could. I went to brush my teeth and take a shower with my hair because it was very dirty from last night.

After I was ready, I went back into the room. Val was still asleep. I put some clothes on and went downstairs to pour myself some water. I got some food for Valentina and ran up the stairs back to my room. Now my new friend was awake.

"Morning, Ki." She said, massaging her disheveled hair.

"Good morning, Val. I got you some food, thought you would be hungry." I sat down on my bed next to her, making an upside-down smile. "Thank you for not letting me run. I'm not happy here, but it was a very stupid idea, because you were right - there is no escape from here."

She shook her head. "I know. But we are getting in trouble. I mean you are."

I rolled my eyes and we heard a knock on the door. Ms. Betty came in.

"Sorry to bother you, Ms.Davis. Tom wants you in his office, now." She smiled and left.

Valentina looked at me and pushed me out of the bed. "Come on! He doesn't like to wait. Go!"

I stood up and left the room. I began walking, wondering what was the worst that could happen.

I got into the dark office and he faced me with a mad gaze. I looked on the floor.

"You said you wanted to talk to me."

He stooped up from his seat and put his big hands on the desk. "What were you and Valentina doing last night?" He walked away from the table and began walking towards me. "Did you think that you could escape from here?" His voice got higher and higher with every word he said. "The only thing I wanted from you was to stay here, Kiara. That's it!" He came even closer and now I could feel his mint breath.

"What did you expect Tom? Are you surprised?" I looked into his eyes. "You kidnapped me! How the fuck did you think that I was gonna stay here, doing nothing, but listen to what you say?"

He looked away "I respect you, Kiara! And I expect to get the same thing from the other side. It's hard to get along with someone who doesn't listen. There is no place in the world, where you can hide from me! Nowhere!"

"Why are you acting like it's a big deal? I'm still here. Fine, I tried to escape from here, because I am surrounded by people that I don't know! I don't belong here, Tom! Every time I look at you, I see nothing, I feel nothing! How did you expect me to react when you told me that we are getting married and I don't have a choice?" I yelled.

"Don't raise your voice at me! Remember who you're talking to and where you are." He started walking forward, but there was no space between us, so I started walking backward. "You are mine!" He yelled. "You belong to me! I own you! You are in my house, my office, with my rules and I say what you do and you fucking do it!" My back hit the wall. "You will marry me. Like it or not, you will! Stop persisting and thinking that somehow you will get away, you won't!" He raised his hand.

I closed my eyes and turned my head away.

"Please don't hit me!" I said and put my hands on his chest.

"What?" He put his hand down. "I won't hit you. Why did you think I would something like that?"

"I- I just" I looked at his eyes. I saw disappointment, but not in me. It was in himself.

As I walked away, I felt a knot in my stomach. I had just blurted out something that I shouldn't have. I lost my composure and I knew he must have noticed. Usually, he would have followed me to inquire about what was on my mind, but this time he didn't. I was grateful for the space and time to collect myself.

When I reached my room, I noticed that Valentina was nowhere to be found. It was a relief, as I didn't want anyone to disturb me. I was still reeling from what I had said during our conversation. I knew that he would be curious about it and would want to know more. But I didn't want to tell him. No way! I regretted the words that had come out of my mouth.
