“Greetings to you Mr. Tate, to what do I owe this pleasure?” Mr. Lawrence responded
“Please, I need you to look into a profile for me, her name is Amelia Walmart and I want to know everything about her.” Alex said, with an assurance of hope.
“Okay sir, I will” Mr. Lawrence responded
“I trust you to carry out this findings perfectly.” Alex responded and thereafter, hanging up the call.
After the call, Alex had to drive quickly. He had scheduled a meeting with his board members to prepare for a project at hand. This was one of the biggest opportunities he had to expand Tate Industries to a greater level of growth.
Upon arrival, he hurriedly walked towards his secretary and asked “Is everybody ready?”
“Yes sir, they are.” Lucy, the secretary responded. Also sir, you do have a visitor awaiting your arrival at the office”
“Who could that be?” Alex asked, his mind racing in curiosity
“I wouldn’t know sir” Lucy responded.
“Alright, kindly grab a coffee for the entire team and have it delivered to them while I go find out who the person in my office is” Alex said
As he walked through the corridors heading towards his office, his thoughts wandered, anticipating who that person would be
As he arrived his office, his hand swung downward, in an attempt to open the door. His eyes widened in shock and displeasure upon realizing who the person was.
“Cora?!”
“What the hell are you doing here?
“You are absolutely not welcome here!” Alex snorted
“Calm down baby” Cora responded, in a calm and soft manner, walking closely towards Alex, as she stretched forth her hand, touching his jaw gently. “This is not how to welcome your lover you hadn’t seen for over three years”
Cora and Alex were once engaged, their future filled with promise and love. However, their relationship took a turn when Alex discovered that Cora had been unfaithful and had also been overly thrifty, which caused a significant infraction of trust between them. Alex knew that calling off the engagement was the right decision.
With a harsh and a loud tone, he said, “There is absolutely nothing between us and so, I will appreciate it if we maintain the distance we had already shared over the years”
“I am still in love with you Alex, and I will stop at nothing to get you back! You do know what I’m capable of doing.” Don’t let things get ugly, she warned.
Afterwards, Alex picked up his phone from the table and adjusted his tie. He needed to still maintain decorum in anticipation of the meeting he was heading to. “You can see yourself out”, he said.
“We weren’t done talking!” Cora yelled
As Alex became aware of his delay, he quickened his pace, capturing the attention of those nearby. His heart raced with a mix of urgency and determination as he made his way to the meeting, anticipating to join his board members without further delay.
“Good day everyone, I am sorry for being late. So, shall we begin please?” Alex spoke, addressing the entire board members.
6:30PM
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Mirage Lounge grew livelier, with everyone chatting and laughing, the bar buzzing with excitement.
Amelia had grown to love her job in a very short time. To her, it didn’t seem to be a contracted job anymore and she wouldn’t mind to have a problem if it were an official employment.
Flora had earlier informed Amelia of the birthday party of Mr. Pius, who had contracted their bar to be responsible for the provision of the drinks, it’s only fair to have given them the job since they were his favorite.
“So, about the birthday celebration, ensure to look good, you just might be lucky to get hitched to a billionaire there.” Flora said, letting out a sarcastic laughter
“Hey, slow down young lady. I’m only going there to do my job.” Amelia said, letting out a short smile
Lost in reverie, memories of her recent conversation with Alex flooded back. She couldn’t shake the impression that he was interested in helping her, after sharing her predicaments with him. She pondered on what might have sparked his interest and what she had done to earn his attention.
The closing of the day’s job had finally come and Amelia couldn’t wait to be home. She never imagined that there would come a time in her life where she’d have to work! As she said her goodbye to Flora and parted, she booked a cab that took her straight to her residence.
Upon arriving home, she took off her shoes, clothes and any other thing on her, headed straight to the bathroom to take a shower, after which she grabbed some food, and retired straight to the bed. The only thing she could remember was Flora telling her not to be late for Mr. Pius’s birthday celebration happening tomorrow since all bar attendants will need to be there early enough to set the drinks before the arrival of guests.

Amelia’s eyes snapped open to the blaring alarm, cutting through the morning silence. She groaned, realizing she was running late for the day’s job and so she scrambled out of bed feeling disorganized which made her also rush through her morning routine
Eventually, she got dressed and headed out of the house immediately to the venue. She placed a few calls to Flora as a guide in locating the place. Upon arrival, Amelia was stunned by the presence of the dignitaries at the premises. She heard a loud shout of someone calling her name.
“Amelia!” Flora called out, getting her attention. Amelia walked in a haste to where Flora was standing
“I’m glad you could make it, even though you came late after I deliberately told you not to” she said, letting out a slight frown.
“I’m so sorry, Flora. It won’t happen again I promise, and thanks for standing in for me” Amelia responded, feeling grateful.
“Okay, that’s fine.” Flora responded
“We can begin serving now.” Flora said, “please, ensure to get the orders right and you may be rewarded with some tips.” She winked, letting out a sarcastic laughter
“The guests over there is requesting your attention” she said
Amelia ensured that the guests were catered to with impeccable service with a seamless blend of hospitality and efficiency, creating an atmosphere of warmth.
As the hour of closure approached, the bustling energy of the birthday party gradually waned, a sense of nostalgia filled the air, with the final call for drinks, the party gently transitioned into a state of peaceful closure.
The entire bar attendants ensured every corner was in check, that nothing went missing or broken at the venue, after which they had a brief conversation with their manager, appreciating them for their services and assured them of their payments. Thereafter, everyone parted ways, heading to their various destinations.
Few miles away from her house, Amelia observed she was being followed. Instinctively, she quickened her footsteps, but it still didn't make any difference. Heart pounding, Amelia tried to shake off the feeling of unease, but it only grew stronger
Unable to bypass her fear any longer, she turned around to confront her pursuer. To her surprise, she found herself face to face with a man she had never seen before. He was tall and with a mild look in his eyes
"Who are you?" Amelia asked, trying to sound brave despite her fear.
The man wore a smile, taking a step closer to her. "I mean no harm, but I'll need you to follow me” he said
Reluctantly, she followed the stranger to the car, where the tinted glass window wound down, revealing a stern face, as she attempted to step out of the car
“So, it’s you!” she said, with a stern voice
“I do not understand what’s going on here. Who are you please?” Amelia asked in confusion.
Her mind swirled like a tempest, mixed in a dilemma. She longed for clarity, for some glimpse of understanding in the midst of the confusion that enveloped her“I am Cora, Alex’s Fiancée, so it’s best you stay away from my man. We are engaged to be married soon.” She warned, her voice filled with pride, as she elegantly displayed a magnificent diamond ring on her finger.“Why are you telling me this?” Amelia asked, her tone portraying a hint of suspicion. She snorted softly, crossing her arms and placing her hands on top of each other, her posture exuding confidence, meeting Cora’s gaze with a bold stare“I have absolutely nothing to do with Alex. So, you can be rest assured you have nothing to worry about.” Amelia asserted, a touch of defiance in her voice. “What could he possibly gain from associating with someone like me?” her voice softened, with a touch of sadness in her eyes as she let her hands fall to her sides.“Yeah, you are right’” Cora replied, her tone filled with mockery
“Hello, Mr. Lawrence. Thank you for reaching back to me.” Alex said, in anticipation of hearing good news. A warmth spread through his chest, letting out a smile that ran through the corners of his lips.“Good day Mr. Tate”, the lawyer responded, “I have been able to gather some vital information for you about Amelia Walmart, but first, I will need to speak with her and ask a few questions for confirmation.“Okay Mr. Lawrence. That wouldn’t be a problem” Alex said. “Kindly choose a day favorable for you and I will make that happen”, he added“Okay sir, I will let you know. Bye for now.” Mr. Lawrence responded and thereafter, interrupted the call.“Is everything okay?” the manager asked“Yes sure, everything is fine,” Alex responded. With a soft smile on his face, he asked, “When will I be signing the documents in order to make the purchase of the bar official please?”“I will reach back to you on this” the manager answered“Okay, just in case I get busy with work, you can leave a mess
Following the call, Alex turned to the stranger and said, “I never want to see you again or anywhere close to Amelia.”“Sure, you won’t.” the stranger responded“As for Cora, do you know where I can find her?” Alex asked“I’m afraid I can’t disclose that to you” the stranger answered“Okay then, you can see yourself out of the hospital.” Alex saidIn a fit of anger, Alex strode towards the door, each step deliberate and filled with anger. Reaching the door, he hesitated for a moment, his hand hovering over the handle as he struggled to contain his rage. But then, with a sudden burst of fury, he swung the door open with such force that it banged loudly against the wall. After storming out of the room, Alex made his way to the reception floor, where Flora awaited him. Without a word, they walked out of the hospital together. After dropping Flora off, Alex headed straight to his office, where his stepfather had been waiting for him. 5PMAs Alex arrived at his office, he pushed the door
Alex noticed the change in Amelia’s expression. Her eyes once bright with laughter, now seemed distant with a shadow of concern and a state of dilemma. “Is everything okay?” Alex asked, reaching across the table to gently touch her hand.“Yes, I am fine. I thought I saw someone I knew,” Amelia responded ”Oh! Okay, that’s fine.” Alex said with a soft smile as he continued to admire Amelia. With soft music playing in the background, Amelia listened carefully as Alex discussed the pressing concerns they had gathered to address. His passion and dedication towards her affairs were evident in every word he spoke, and Amelia found herself admiring his gesture. She further consented to seeing the person Alex requested for her to meet.As they conversed, minutes turned into hours, but neither of them noticed as they were engrossed in their discussion. Despite the seriousness of their conversation, they shared moments of laughter which made their time together worthwhile. As the evening drew t
The news of Mr. Sebastian’s sudden decision to sell off the bar sent ripples of curiosity and concern through the organization. As they gathered in small groups, discussing the possible reasons behind the manager’s departure, one question remained unanswered: who would be the new owner? The workers went about their daily tasks for the day, but their minds were preoccupied as they were concerned about whether the new owner would be kind and whether they would run the bar effectively. A few other workers worried about the possibility of layoffs or drastic changes to their work environment. As they left the meeting spot, the workers exchanged worried glances. They knew that change was inevitable, but the unknown was always unsettling. All they could do was wait and hope that the new owner would be someone who would lead the organization with compassion and integrity. The morning gave way to the evening, leading to the close of the day at the bar. Other workers had taken their leave afte
As Lucy arrived at the office, she could sense an air of disapproval from her colleagues, making her feel increasingly uncomfortable. Some of them muttered under their breath, while others exchanged whispers that seemed to be directed at her. Their expressions seemed to convey a mix of disappointment and annoyance, as if they were silently judging her for being late.Lucy ignored the tension around her and headed straight to her desk. She focused on clearing her desk, hoping to convey a message of her readiness to begin work. As she began to arrange her desk, arranging papers and setting things in order, her pen slipped from her hand, falling to the ground. As she bent down to retrieve it, she heard a sharp noise. It was Mr. Dan who snapped some papers on her desk, a clear sign of his irritation towards her lateness.Mr. Dan is the Chief Operating Officer of Tate Industries who is the second-in-command after Mr. Alex, and is responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day operatio
Following Mr. Dan’s address to the entire staff of the company, the workplace took a profound transformation. His words laden with authority and wisdom, seemed to have a positive impact, infusing a renewed sense of purpose and commitment into the employees. Everybody seemed to be up and doing with their daily tasks. As the day progressed, the board member who had interacted with Mr. Dan took it upon himself to approach his fellow board members. His demeanor was one of urgency, a man on a mission. He sought out each member individually, engaging them in earnest conversation. His aim was to persuade other board members not to entertain any further offers from the mysterious individual who had sought to sabotage their project. Despite his efforts to persuade them, they remained steadfast in their decision to entertain further offers from the saboteur.Their refusal to listen was met with frustration and disbelief by the concerned board member, who could only watch helplessly as his warni
The door swung open, revealing Mr. Dan’s arrival. He stepped into the room and walked towards Alex, in a kind gesture, asking Alex if he could take a seat. Alex nodded, indicating that Mr. Dan was welcome to join him. With a short smile on Alex’s face, he said, “Good day Mr. Dan. It’s good to see you”“Good day to you too Mr. Alex, it’s good to have you back.” Mr. Dan said“To what do I owe this visit?” Mr. Alex asked, his mind racing with anxious anticipation of what is to be said“Our board members have been compromised” Mr. Dan said, taking a deep breath and genuinely lowered his gaze, his voice softening as he delivered the sad news“What?!”“What do you mean?” Mr. Alex exclaimed, in eyes widened in amazement“Oh! This whole nonchalant attitude from the board members make sense to me now” Alex muttered to himself“You see, Mr. Alex,” he began, “It all started with the subtle hints of unease during our board meetings. I initially thought it as stress or personal issues, but as one
