After the members congratulated us one by one, they left, and the alpha feast was announced to start in two days, during which an official announcement would be made about the baby. As soon as the last member left, I headed to the infirmary, leaving my mother behind, who was talking to Linda. Slade and Jude had already gone to meet with the elders, leaving me alone with my thoughts.

Pushing the infirmary door open, I smiled briefly upon seeing the empty bed. It was a relief to know that everyone had recovered from the plague and it had been contained. Slade and I had also made it through all that happened; even though barely unscathed, we were alive.

Despite the conviction of us being alive, the seer's words still surface in my mind now and then. I couldn't take things for granted, as anything could happen at any moment.
