CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE - CURIOSITY CAN KILL

I woke up sleepily and looked around stretching. Completely healed at last.

I strained my ears, but I heard no noise in the house. I stretched out on the bed and got up. It was probably ten o'clock in the morning and I had overslept. Maybe because that night I hadn't been kicked every minute by Sarah.

I stepped onto the floor, put on a shirt, and left the room.

Right ahead, I saw Sarah's door propped up. I went to it and opened it before poking my head inside.

Sarah wasn't there.

I closed and went to the living room, but there was no one there either. Her faint scent came from the porch, and when I got there, I saw her clothes lying on the floor.

She went for a run.

I scratched my head and turned around and went back inside. I went back to the room and saw my cell phone ringing.
