Chapter 45: “Your silence tells me that I am right.”

“Are you ready?” Luna asked looking at me as we stood outside Clay’s room. She looked a jittery mess of happy, sad, nervous and apologetic. Her expression and dark circles were concerning but right now I was only just mad at her for making me do something against my wish.

She was mostly using my love and kindness by ignoring my feelings and yet I couldn’t even blame her for it.

If she had to choose between her child’s life and my inconvenience the answer was a given to lean towards Clay.

I didn’t say anything in response and opening the door she smiled as she faced her son who had been sitting on the bed looking down. He must have sensed my presence at once because quickly looking up at me his eyes widened.

“You came,” he whispered in disbelief as he stared at me with his wide blue eyes that had taken on a lighter shade and scrambling to get out of his bed he hysterically rejoiced, “You came!”
