ANGEL

I was doing my damnedest to hold back the tears that wanted to come forth.

Honestly, I had not really gave thought to whether or not my birth mother had any living family members. My boys found out for me and made this happen. I never imagined that I would be surrounded by family members that were strangers for all intents and purposes. However, they did not feel like strangers. There was a sense of familiarity deep inside of me that told me that they were indeed my family.

This was all so damn surreal. There was definitely a family resemblance among many of the people in this room.

An older man and woman came forward first. There was a sheen in both sets of eyes. Her lips quivered a little bit.

“You look just like Sophia. I’m thankful that the Goddess allowed us to meet you. I’m Shirley, and this is Thomas. You can call us whatever you would like to though. Sophia was our daughter, so we’re your grandparents, Angel.”
