Lilah

Linc tries to stop me moving any further. Just like the others, he had been forced to his knees. Struggling to breathe and finding it nearly impossible to speak. His honey eyes search mine. They had a slight glaze to them, maybe he was trying to mindlink me. But it wouldn’t work. Until I could mark Colt I wouldn’t be able to link any of the pack and marking Colt couldn’t happen. Not since my canines had been ripped out. I wasn’t one of them. I was a wolf.

“I have to do this.” I tell Linc and he shakes his head at me. His hand grasps at his throat as he tries to speak.

“Go back.” He chokes out the words.

“You go back.” I mutter, casting my eyes over the other Lycans. Some had already crawled away from the smokey fog. They sit leaning against the trees, sucking in the oxygen, trying to steady their own breathing.

Linc tugs on my hand and shakes his head. “I have to do this, Linc. Colt is your King. I am just a wolf!” Pushing his hand away, I run straight into the smoke.
