Chapter Eighty-One

No place like home.

Yuk! The same garish canvas of Henri and Saskia welcomed me as I enter the alpha house. It was now joined with a smaller version of just Saskia and Skylar, lurid and cheap looking, it really suited them. Knowing Kath would be busy somewhere behind the scenes for breakfast, I was alone in the house. I run up the stairs towards my bedroom, eager to not spend any more time in here than I have to. I sensed a new scent to the house, but mixed in with others, I couldn’t place it and with people no doubt coming and going for the King for the past few days, it wasn’t surprising the house had lost its signature scent.

I walk along the upstairs hallway when I come to my room. Or I thought I had. I do a double take. Was I in the wrong house?

My room has been completed redecorated, completely stripped of any evidence that this was my room…my untouched sanctuary. The last thing that was solely mine, again now belonged to Skylar. She could have had a guest room to claim as he
