Chapter Twenty-Seven - Threatened

Lena’s POV

The moment Zephyrus left, I looked around for the library reluctantly. I had no wish to sit and read books when I had a mission to accomplish. This was the best place to ask around for Cassie, and I couldn’t let go of this opportunity. I took a detour toward the sprawling kitchen where the pack members prepared meals for the inmates. I didn’t know any of them since every time I came here; I was busy in a meeting with Alpha Atticus.

I peered into the kitchen inhabited by mostly female workers, busy preparing meals and chatting. How would I find Cassie here? Whom could I ask?

I gingerly walked in and looked around. There were three middle-aged women chopping vegetables in one corner. They looked kinder and more experienced than the younger lot giggling around. Maybe they had been around for some time. As I approached the trio, one of them walked away, leaving the other two behind.

I stood beside them, fidgeting with my hands, when they looked up at me with surprise. “Hello!
