Edith

Six eyes are pinned on me, looking at me with worry.

"What is the mutter, Edith? Are you okay?" my mother asks me.

"Yes, mother. I am fine. But I have a favor to ask."

"Tell me, my child." She says, still staring at me.

"Can I go with Aida tomorrow to the village? I have never been to a village before. I am curious to see how it looks like down there".

My mother turns her head and looks at my father, who adopts a rigorous, piercing look.

"I am afraid that you are not going to see one ever. Not because I forbid it, but because of the rules. Do not forget you are a princess, and I expect to behave like one," my father states firmly.

"Yes, father, you are right. I am sorry," I tell him, and I lower my eyes to my plate downhearted. I cannot see my food clearly. Upcoming tears blur my vision.

I force myself to keep them back. I do not want my parents to see me crying.
