Marienne's Pov

The next time I woke up was when Nick stepped into the room. I groaned as I slowly awoke from my slumber, feeling disoriented and slightly confused.

I blinked a few times, trying to clear my vision, and when I finally focused, I gasped at the figure standing at the foot of my mother's bed.

It was Nico.

A rush of adrenaline coursed through my veins as I shot up into a sitting position. My heart pounded in my chest as I glanced over at my mother, still lying unconscious in her bed. Panic bubbled up within me, quickly replaced by a sense of empathy towards Nico.

"Alpha Nico," I stuttered, struggling to find my voice. "Is... is she okay?"

The King sighed heavily, his eyes filled with worry as he murmured, "I don't know, Marie. She still hasn't woken up."

It's the first time I have heard Nico call me by my nickname. He must have picked it up from my mother as that was the name she usually called me.
