Chapter Five

Eira

It was very clear to me that I didn't know who I was dealing with since everything I could see was the person's shoes and the smell of his perfume that filtered through my nose. It wasn't the cheap type, far from it but the exotic one that just seemed to take you to another plane and dimension. I knew I couldn't be too attached to whoever this person was because that wasn't what I came here for. I came to help Gianna and that was exactly what I was going to do.

As I stood there, staring at shoes, I couldn't help but feel that the scent of this perfume was very familiar but I still couldn't place my finger on who it belonged to. It was just at the back of my palm but still, it was very hard to place who it was from. It was very familiar, like I had sensed something like that before. It wasn't funny because I couldn't remember and I had always been good at stuff like this. I decided to ignore it because that wasn't why I was here.

"Hey, let me show you what to do," Diana said, walking past me.

I walked past the person without moving my head up and as I moved closer to where Diana was, I could feel eyes on my body. The person was watching my every move, everything I did and it was very creepy to say the least because no one knew me here so why should anyone be watching me. I didn't know what to make out of it but I decided to just keep quiet and do what I came here for.

"So, on the roster today, it's Gianna that's manning the bar so as a customer comes for a drink, it's your duty to take their orders and direct them to a table if there are any tables available. Do you understand?" Diana asked.

"That's all?" I asked.

I couldn't believe how simple the task was. it was something I could do without bothering myself too much and I was happy I grabbed the opportunity my wolf presented to me.

"Yes, that's all." Diana chuckled.

"Alright, I'll get to it. Thank you," I said.

Diana nodded, giving me the thumbs up before walking away further into the bar. She had her own job to do and I didn't want to get in her way because she had helped me a lot and handling this was an easy task.

It was almost noon now and so far, so good there wasn't a bad report from me which was really good considering the fact that I tended to mess things up a lot. So far, I had counted about a hundred customers and I found it hard to believe the busy nature of this place.

It hasn't dried up one bit and I didn't even want to think about the income that would be coming in per day. It was no wonder that Diana had told me it was one of the best bars in the town and seeing it now and experiencing it just confirmed what she said.

"How's your first day at work going?" Diana smiled, walking towards me.

"One thing I can say is that it's really busy. You were not joking when you said it's another world in here, and now I can see it," I explained.

"You see, I told you." She smiled.

"Diana," a voice called out.

"Oops, that's the manager so I've got to run. See you later."

She hurried away, leaving me alone. I stared at my environment and I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude to myself for breaking out of the pack. If I hadn't, I would probably still have been there, a sorry mess and a miserable person. There was just something about that pack that had always screamed at me to run, the instructions were always clear as day and the day I had finally heeded to it, I was glad I did.

"Hey you, a drink," someone suddenly snapped.

I looked up, surprised by the tone of the voice. Ever since I began working, no one had spoken to me rudely. Although I got a few unfriendly tones but that was just it. But this, this was completely new and I knew I was right when my wolf stirred within me, a warning sign that this wasn't your regular person.

"Good afternoon. What type please?" I asked politely.

I tried to understand the person. She might probably be having a bad day. From the voice, I had deduced that it was a lady and I was right, especially since she was all covered in expensive jewelry that was very blinding. Her face was covered with the heaviest makeup I had ever seen and I couldn't believe that she was even real.

"I said I wanted a drink, so why are you staring at me?" she snapped.

"Oh, I'm sorry. It will be along right away," I said, using the last bit of my patience.

I didn't understand why people couldn't be nice. It didn't cost anything but apparently, I had come to realize that everyone wasn't the same.

"Such incompetence," the woman clucked.

That was it. I could be called anything but being called incompetent was something I could never take. I didn't care who this woman was but I was ready to give her a piece of my mind.

"Well, I can say the same about you especially since you don't know how to blend makeup and you don't know how to use even jewelry. Seriously though, I can't even believe you are real. You look like a walking monster. No, scratch that, you are a monster," I poured out, smiling as I spoke.

I took satisfaction in knowing that I had hurt her feelings because she deserved it. There was an ugly look on her face and before I knew it, she grabbed the glass of drink I had served her, pouring it on me. Then she shrieked, successfully grabbing the attention of everyone at the bar.

If she had expected me to shout and scream, she was disappointed because all I did was look at her calmly before I delivered a heavy punch on her face. I could tell that she didn't expect it and I loved how she staggered back, completely at a loss for words.

"How dare you?! You bastard! Whore!" she screamed.

I laughed because if she even knew a quarter of what I possessed within me, she wouldn't be talking to me this way.

"That is for not talking nicely. You are very rude and I hate rude people," I barked.

"You will regret this! Manager! Where is the bloody manager?" she shouted.

Even as she was shouting, I didn't know where the thought came from but I had a feeling that she was one of Sebastians's mistresses. It was very clear from the way she talked and moved her body.

By now, more than half of the people in the bar were already at the scene and my only regret was when I saw the pained and angry look on Diana's face. I didn't mean to embarrass her that way but I couldn't help someone talking to me like I had no worth. I had faced that in my pack and I wasn't about to face that here, in this new world I was in.

"Gianna, how could you?" Diana said.

I almost told her I wasn't Gianna but then I remembered that I was working under her name and here, I was answering her name. I put my head down, not happy about what had happened but it had already happened and there was nothing anyone could do about it again.

That was when I felt his presence. Sebastian was staring at me, I just knew it and when I looked up, I saw his eyes boring into mine. I didn't back down, and yes, I didn't look away because I wanted him to know that I wasn't scared of him. He could stare at me all he wanted but I wasn't going to back down, which was something I had come to work on.

"So this is the bitch you were staring at when you didn't pay me any attention? Sebastian, is she any more beautiful than I am?" the woman screamed.

Sebastian looked away and took a sip of his drink. It was an awkward moment because no one knew the lingering tension between me and him.

"You left me to be with her. How dare you?" the woman screamed.

At that moment, Sebastian had had enough. He rose up to his feet and walked out of the bar immediately. When he left, the woman descended on me but what she did not expect was for me to have the strength that she had.

I beat her up so bad that blood oozed from every available area from her body. The woman staggered back, not quite believing that a lady of her status could get beaten up.

"Who are you?" the woman asked, spitting blood out.

At that moment, Diana had had enough. She moved in between us, dragging me away. There was too much blood and she couldn't take it anymore.

***

When it was evening, on our way home, Diana was pissed and she confronted me angrily and in that moment, I knew that I had fucked up.
