The moment Rita’s words left her lips, Chris stiffened and his heart skipped a beat. He was absolutely taken aback by the sudden confession.
This was what he had always wanted.. for Rita to love him back. He stood in place, shocked with widened eyes.
Chris felt his heart pound heavily against his ribcage in excitement.
‘Am I dreaming? Rita just said she loves me. Please don’t wake me up if I’m dreaming.’ Chris thought to himself, he was too stunned to say anything just yet.
In Rita’s eyes Chris’s reaction looked like something else entirely. She thought the feelings were not mutual and Chris was stuck with how to respond to her confession.
“Hahaha! Got you! You should see the look on your face. I was just joking!” Rita said, trying to laugh off her confession awkwardly. Not knowing she had just hit a nerve in Chris.
Chris let go of Rita’s hands and clenched his hands into fists, struggling to stay calm as a pang of pain shot through hi

Chris rushed to his parent's mansion as fast as he could. The moment he had made some money, he had built his family a big Victorian styled mansion. They had their own house helps, gardeners and drivers. Reaching the entrance, Chris walked through, his heart in his throat. He had received a phone call that his mother was sick and she had collapsed so the family doctor paid her a visit. “Son? Why are you here this late?” Chris heard his father, Michael Stevens ask and his heart sank. His father and sister were sitting in the living room watching TV. The atmosphere didn’t look like anyone was sick at all. “Let me guess? Mom tricked you into coming right?” Jasmine asked with a cocked brow. Jasmine Stevens was Christopher’s younger and only sister. She was 22 and had just graduated from University and she wanted to find a job as a fashion designer. Naturally, she was a kind and honest girl who was easy going. “Shit! Can you imagine
Chris glared at Lydia the moment he cut the phone. “How did you know I’m here?” He asked icily. “I didn’t.. I just came to have a drink then I happened to see you sitting here alone so I walked over to keep you company.” Lydia said, lying through her teeth. The truth was that, when Chris left her, Maria’s driver had given her a lift and she followed Chris to skybar. Lydia sat in a corner waiting for the perfect opportunity to make her move. When she saw Chris talking on the phone, she walked over and spoke ambiguously to create a misunderstanding incase the person on the other end of the line was a woman. Chris scoffed. “You expect me to believe that when desperation is written all over your face?” “You don’t own skybar do you? I can come here anytime I want.” Lydia countered. “Actually, I do.” Chris remarked, taking a sip of his whiskey. Lydia felt her cheeks burn, she just made a fool out of herself when she was supposed to l
The moment the condom touched the floor, Rita’s heart flipped twice as her eyes widened in shock. ‘What the fucking hell?’ Rita’s eyes reddened as she glared at Chris. Anger rising in her heart. She didn’t even think twice about it, she took a few steps forward and slapped Chris harshly on the face, the force of the slap tilting his head to the right. “Fucking cheat!!!” Rita hissed, her eyes boiled with rage. ‘How dare he..’ Rita’s heart clenched in pain. As jealousy and anger rippled through her like tidal waves. Above all, she felt betrayed. Even if she was just bought by Chris, the least she expected was for him to be faithful after all, they had been intimate. “I swear, I didn’t do anything. It's not what you think,” Chris tried to explain. “You didn’t? How come you have a condom with you. Don’t tell me you plan to use it on me?” Rita asked sarcastically. She was very upset, if eyes could burn, Chris would be toast by now.
It was hours later and John was handing in some reports in the CEO’s office when Chris’s mind wandered off to think about his wife, Rita. ‘What is she doing?’ He only saw her during the meeting but after that, she had been avoiding him like they were social distancing. “That would be all Sir,” John said and turned to leave when Chris stopped him. “Wait…. Tell Rita to type the minutes for today’s meeting and submit them to me,” Chris instructed as he perused through the files John had just handed in. “Uh.. Yes sir,” John replied hesitantly. He was not blind, he could see the tension between the couple. It was so strong that he felt like he was suffocating in the middle of the two who had a lovers' quarrel and couldn’t sort out their issues. Reluctantly, John entered the assistant’s office and relayed the message. Rita felt her breath hitch upon getting the order. She snapped her eyes to look at John, she got some printed documents and g
Chris was feeling happy as he ate the food bought by Rita. Feeling warm at the gesture. She may be upset with him but she still cared. A knock on the door made Chris snap his gaze towards it and nodded his head as an approval for John to enter. “I came to check if you would like to eat something but I have noticed that the madam also bought you something. It’s fine then,” John said but Chris froze when he heard his words. ‘Also?’ “What do you mean also?” Chris couldn’t help but ask, his stomach twisting as he waited for the response. “Oh.. Mrs Stevens got me lunch. She said she noticed how I left before lunch and missed going to the company’s cafeteria.” “Oh, okay. Good to know,” Chris said coldly as he gritted his teeth. He thought Rita had bought him food because she thought about him but it was just a by-the-way gesture. His mood instantly dropped and he returned to sulking. John noticed and left the office, no
Chris was in a good mood after John told him that Rita smiled when she received the KFC he had ordered for her. He believed it was just a matter of time before Rita opened up to him again. To his shock, his mother had showed up at his office unannounced. Of course with nothing sensible to talk about apart from forcing him to marry Lydia who, according to Maria was cultured. But Chris begged to differ. Someone cultured wouldn’t shamelessly throw herself at a man. “Mom, we’ve talked about this. I love someone else,” Chris said, groaning in frustration. “Again with this nonsense. Bring her to me then. I want to meet her so that I stop troubling you,” Maria said. All this time Chris’s heart was racing. He was internally praying that Rita stayed in her office because her meeting his mom was a non starter. But of course, no one heard Chris’s prayer as Rita enthusiastically barged into his office. “Yes mom, she’s the woman I lov
In the CEO’s assistant’s office, Rita sat behind her desk, giggling to herself and often spacing out. An adorable pink would creep up her cheeks here and there as she was lost deep in her thoughts. Clearly reminiscing about the previous night. Rita and Chris had ironed out their issues and had a wonderful make up session in the shower. Though, sadly, they couldn’t take things to the next level, much to their dismay. After Rita received the unexpected “visitor”, she just snuggled up to Chris in bed and they would share a kiss here and there. At some point, Chris rubbed Rita’s stomach the way he did in their earlier days together, to ease her cramps. It was a perfect night and it felt good to not fight with each other. Rita laughed out loud when she remembered how Chris woke up with an angry boner in the morning and it couldn’t go down no matter what until Rita went down on him. She thought he just wanted her to do it again since h
Four days passed by in a jolly blur. Rita was having the time of her life. She felt alive. The two would kiss and fondle each other every chance they got. Making the hunger and desire for each other rise up a notch. Even John couldn’t help but envy the sweetness that was oozing from the couple. They made it so obvious that he started feeling like a third wheel. Although Rita would assure John that he wasn’t a third wheel, Chris would glare at him and ask him if he wanted a new office, far from them. Chris was happy and in love. But also on edge. He had made some mistakes in the beginning that he didn’t know if Rita would forgive him for when or if she found out. While in his office, Chris took in a sharp breath as he thought about his future with Rita. ‘If the truth came out. That I had a hand in—’ A knock on the door interrupted Chris’s train of worried thoughts. “Come in,” Chris said. John walked in after getting a re
