Chapter 1

Linda’s p.o.v

Walking down the aisle is the most monumental and most meaningful walk of your life.

To be honest, I felt proud of myself and completely loved while taking each and every step towards the altar. Next to me was the man who held my hands for a short while but held my heart forever. The man who knew what I needed before I asked him.

That man who did not tell me how to live instead he lived and let me watch him do it. He protected me, became my shield and took great care of me. He gave me so much love that he did not let me feel the absence of my mother.

Oh! How much I miss her today. Like any other mother, she would have cupped my face and told me how beautiful I was looking on this important day if she was here.

I could already feel the tears in my eyes. Thanks to the veil that covered my face, no one noticed.

I moved my eyes towards the guests who were beaming at me. I smiled at them wholeheartedly even when they could barely see my face. Everything seemed to go in slow motion. At this moment, I didn't want to rush. I wanted to witness everything that was happening. Every second was precious for me.

The church was mostly decorated with the flowers of lilies. Lilies, my all time favourite. They are ethereal and represent purity and simplicity.

It was indeed true, only parents can understand their child. In my case, it was my superhero, my dad.

I heard that my favourite song was playing and sadly it was about to end. Everything was perfect. It seemed to be a dream.

Oh! How much I wanted this moment to last longer.

I averted my gaze to the most handsome man in the world. The love of my life. My would-be-husband, Daniel. The one whom I love unconditionally. My first and hopefully last love.

I met him at his father's party three years ago and instantly fell in love with him. It was love at first sight. Since then I admired him and loved him secretly. His dad and my father were college friends. So, whenever his father would come to visit my dad, Daniel would tag along, and I would covertly look at him behind the doors and windows.

And then four days ago, happiness knocked my door when his father came with the marriage proposal. He wanted this wedding to happen as soon as possible and here I was at the altar.

Daniel told me to refuse my father for this marriage on the second day by sending his personal assistant to my home. He told me that his boss wanted me to deny this offer if I was not comfortable with the idea. But that was the complete opposite. I did want this wedding. I wanted to meet him before the ceremony as well but learned that he had gone abroad to complete some incomplete work and would return a day before the wedding.

On the other hand, my father was emotionally extorting me. He was afraid that if something happened to him then what would I do? I could not blame him though. He was just following his fatherly instinct. The pressure that I had on me from my father and Daniel's parents was agonising.

I loved my father head over heels which is one of the reasons I could not say no. He was already a heart patient and he just wished to see me happy. Apart from that, I would try my best to perform all the duties a wife should perform for her husband.

My love for him kept on increasing every moment I saw him. I guessed it was high time to spill the beans. I finally planned to confess my feelings once the wedding was over.

I was distracted when I heard my father's voice.

"I'm giving you my most precious diamond son, please take care of her."

I was waiting for a response from Daniel but to my surprise I did not receive one. I was also disappointed when he did not hold my hand. I looked up at him and saw him looking straight. He was clenching his teeth and fist.

In return, I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

I tried my best to ignore it and took my position in front of him. He was looking too hot and sexy. His minty cologne was attracting me more. He was tall enough to intimidate me. I looked like a petite girl in front of him.

He had that kind of face that could stop you in your tracks. His dark, cold blue eyes were so deep that you could even drown in them. His hair was perfectly combed to one side. He was looking devilishly handsome in that black tux he was wearing.

I was so lost in his eyes that I was not even concentrating on the priest's words.

"Do you, Miss Linda Foscar, take Daniel Anderson to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have him and to hold him from this onward, for better or for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do you part?"

I looked at him before giving my reply. It was heart-breaking that he was not even looking at me. But I overlooked it. I smiled and happily answered.

"I do."

The priest asked him the same thing but before saying those words, he squeezed my hand a little which brought me back to reality. He closed his eyes tightly and replied "I do" as quickly as possible.

"You may kiss your bride."

I was waiting for this moment. I wanted to feel his lips on mine.

However, the kiss was cold and not welcoming at all. His eyes were spitting fire at me.

Why was he behaving like this? Did I really make a mistake by accepting this marriage?

My happiness slowly faded away.

Little did I know, my marriage would lead me to doom.
