Chapter 11 The last stretch

Sasha's piercing scream echoed through the house, and Keira's heart sank. For a moment she looked at the ceiling and then at the clock against the wall. It was past three in the morning. Keira had decided to move into the storage room that Don turned into a small bedroom. Sasha had none of it, but she also knew that it was pointless to go against Keira so reluctantly gave in at the end.

She gently slid her foot out from under the thick blanket and onto the cold, wooden floor. As she stood up, the old floorboards beneath her feet creaked and groaned, protesting the disturbance. On the way out she grabbed her pink robe before exiting. She made her way down the dimly lit hallway and could feel the icy air nipping at her skin. She stood in the doorway of her bedroom door, she could just make out Sasha's figure.

Sasha had relived Buck's last moments every night after his death. Keira walked over to the bed to where Sasha lay. She was already awake, Keira could not make out her
