Book II - Ayla - Escaping II

Up in the sky was a Full Moon.

The Black Tower was built very close to the castle. As Eluvene guided Godefray in the opposite direction of the city, close to the wall, Ayla looked at the place that had been her home and prison for twenty-two years. She hoped it would burn to the ground. She only regretted that the parchments Rhobart sent her when they were children were still in her room.

Except for shouts coming from the castle, the Royal Garden was mostly quiet. Even if it was night and Ayla couldn’t see the garden well, she remembered how it looked when Galian’s wyvern landed next to the fountain. The Royal Garden, once beautiful and full of life, was dull as if all the life force of the plants and trees was gone.
