Jenna Brooks’s POV

I stayed in the restroom and locked myself in one of the stalls for about two hours. I didn’t want to step out, I was too embarrassed to. Why did I even dress up in the first place?

I heard someone walk into the restroom and knock on the stall I was in. I had already locked it from the inside.

“Jenna? Are you in there?” that voice called. It was Jeanette’s.

“I’m reading.” I lied, looking down at my palms.

“No, You’re hiding!” Jeanette replied at the other side.

“I don’t wanna run into Toralei,” I admitted.

“She spilled black coffee on you, Jenna. So what?”

“Easy for you to say. Okay, nothing rattles you.” I replied.

“Plenty of stuff rattles me, I just roll with it,” Jeanette replied, frustrated.

“Well, this is how I roll.”

“Seriously, Jenna. We’ve come this far, I don’t think…” she stopped when she heard me pull down the flush button on the toilet.” You’re not seriously flushing the toilet to avoid this conversation.”
