Elizabeth's POV:

I walked out of my chambers into the dead of the night, a lantern on my hands.

"Mrs Jones! I have a report for you." My personal maid rushes up to me, panting like her life depended on it.

"What report is that?"

"Brenda has been imprisoned by Callox, and she is pregnant!"

What? I felt my heart go numb at this piece of news. Why ? How could Callox do something as cruel as this to a pregnant woman?

"She was said to have colluded with Phoenix?"

Phoenix? I thought he didn't love her, I thought they had nothing to do with each other, was I being fooled? I couldn't believe this at all. I need to see for myself.

The moment I saw Brenda in that jail cell, I felt as though someone had reached into my chest and squeezed my heart out.
