Kimberly:

As Vanessa and I walked down the stairs, with the echo of our heels clicking in unison.

Ethan was waiting at the bottom of the stairs, his face holding a tight smile, he held out a bouquet of lilies. Their pearly white petals shimmer under the chandelier's glow.

"For the two most stunning ladies in the house," he said, his voice warm. A blush stained my cheeks as I accepted my flowers.

"Thank you, godfather".

"You're looking gorgeous Vanessa.” He complimented.

"Thank you, Mr Wright"

"Ethan, Vanessa I've told you, you can call me Ethan. You are family." as he spoke, his eyes met mine, and time seemed to slow, the air thickening with tension.

His little smile faltered, his lips parting slightly in surprise, his eyes widened, a flicker of something unreadable crossing his features before he quickly masked it with a cough.

"Uh, right," he cleared his throat, his voice slightly hoarse.

"Your dates are, uh, downstairs.”

We let out small giggles as he gave a mocking bow.
