Chapter 48

Kimberly:

As I raided the cabinet for my favorite chip, which I still couldn't find, we never ran out of chips. Someone ripped my hands, making me turn around.

“Ethan.” grip tightened on my arms as I reached for the chips, his presence looming over me like a shadow. I could feel the tension crackling in the air, his voice cutting through the silence like a knife.

"Why are you avoiding me?" he demanded, his tone sharp and accusatory.

I froze, my heart pounding in my chest as I struggled to find the right words. I had been avoiding Ethan ever since that fateful night, unable to face him after. Now, with him standing so close, I couldn't escape his gaze.

"I'm not avoiding you," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper but even as the words left my lips, I knew they were lies.

Ethan shook his head, a look of frustration crossing his features. "This is the first time we've made eye contact since that night," he pointed out, his voice softer now, laced with a hint of hurt.
