Chapter 41 A Ploy

When I reached my office, a long sigh left my mouth. Because on my desk there was a big mountain of paperwork that had accumulated over the past days during my absence. It was a daunting task that I needed to complete considering how I had just told Xander that I had earned my position and couldn’t leave.

Just as I was about to dive into the paperwork, a sudden uproar echoed down the hallway outside my office. Raised voices and the sound of heavy footsteps drew nearer, disrupting the quiet atmosphere within the room. I glanced up, curiosity piqued.

And then, there she was.

Emma, I narrowed my eyes at this sudden arrival.

“Grace,” she exclaimed. The guards stationed outside my office attempted to block her path, but she paid them no mind, her focus solely on reaching me.

She stormed inside my office with a cake box in her hands. “Grace, please hear me once,” she begged.

“Out,” I ordered her.
