Bk 2 Ch 14: Nate
When I’d finished my homework, I went to check on Ma and Kimi. I found them in the basement, watching one of Ma’s stupid movies. Ma was sporting a nice buzz, but Kimi had crashed. She was asleep with her head on one of the couch pillows, and her feet on Ma’s lap.
“How much did she drink?” I asked.
Ma giggled. “Two shots, and two glasses. Your girl is a lightweight.”
I shook my head, but couldn’t resist a small smile. “She’s sixteen, never really drank, and I don’t think she had anything to eat.”
“Shit! I forgot about dinner,” Ma pulled her phone out to order from one of the restaurants.

I woke up to the smell of bacon and coffee, and immediately wanted to go back to sleep. My head was pounding, and my mouth was dry. I looked over at who was in bed with me, and I was relieved to see Rose and Kam. I looked around the room, and realized it wasn’t mine. It was Mary’s. Kimi, Kam, and Rose left around eleven thirty. Jimmy, Saoirse, and I finished cleaning the house. It was the one condition Ma had for my parties. I could run my fake bar, but I was in charge of cleanup after. Including washing her sheets. I think it’s why she lets me have the parties in the first place. I’d learned more about Kimi in the last hour than I’d learned in the last six months. I quickly shifted in her back seat, then pulled my clothes back on.
