“No, Ma, I’m not planning on outing the girls’ bloodsucker heritage before they even know about it!” I said into the phone. “I’m just meeting someone who might be part vampire. If he is, then he could be available to answer questions if they start experiencing weird shit.”
“Why don’t you know any female vampires, Nathaniel?” Ma asked with exasperation.
I laughed. “I might know some, but they keep their identity hidden. Look, I’m meeting Kimi at her sorority house tonight. I just wanted you to know that they aren’t the only ones of their kind.”
