The paparazzi still took as many pictures as they could. He got inside, shut the door, and the vehicle drove off.
She was surprised to see they were no longer staying at the hotel. They drove through the city. They were to stay in new quarters. She was a little annoyed she hadn’t been informed about it, but she shrugged it off. The suv pulled into a driveway that had a large wooden gate.
She watched as the driver rolled his window down and a security guard walked up to the window. The driver handed him the proper documentation. The security handed it back, went back into the small white booth it was sitting in. There was a loud beep and the large wooden doors slowly moved open. Nick checked all the exits and blind spots of the perimeter once he was outside of the cottage. He saw the other security guard Mr. King had hired for this trip. He was already becoming a pain in Nick’s ass. When he was within earshot he barked at him. “Why did you let that son of a bitch in here?” The young man looked confused. “Mr. Alvarez?” Nick didn't say anything. Elayna woke up to the loud sound of thunder rumbling. The room was even darker than it had been when she had first fallen asleep. She pushed the covers back and got up from the bed. She went to the large window and pulled the curtains back. She was astonished at the chaos going on outside. The wind was furiously blowing. The trees were bending in unusual ways. The rain was coming down in a slanted horizontal angle, while the lightning and thunder added even more of a foreboding effect. She swallowed hard. Nick had been right. The storm had come just as he had predicted. She picked her phone up and noticed she still had no contact from her husband. Not even a single text. She tried not to be mad, but it nagged her. She checked the time and realized she had been asleep for quite awhile. She had slept the day away.
