When the creature squawked and clicked at Olivia, she felt the creature knew her plan to escape, and it didn’t like it. Olivia swallowed her tongue while forcing herself to move her hand toward the lever again. Her heart still pounded in her throat.
Olivia felt like her heart was going to pop out of her chest. She thought the Boneseeker Man could hear her pounding heart and was probably annoyed by it. Thoughts in her head told her to be perfectly still, while conflicting thoughts told her to make a move or die.
