Rhounzi took a glimpse outside the window while her hand remained to hold a simplistic letter. It was attached to a white and gold minimalistic box of her favorite cupcakes. She has been used to it since their breakup.
'My love, houn,
please come back... ''I love you so much.'
It's been two weeks since she started receiving these along with letters that had the same output written on them and the same handwriting. She knew the person behind this too well, the only person who she hesitated to cut ties with, the most hazardous person she have ever known; her ex-boyfriend, Hazard. They were in a relationship for almost one and a half years but things got twisted that's why she chose to break up with him, for her sanity, for herself. She cheated on her, which part of that wouldn't make her leave him? She never cheated, she remained faithful but he never did. That's why she left even though she doesn't like to be the one who needs to adjust, she left without any closure. She never wanted one, never.
As usual, Rhounzi crumpled the letter off and threw it into the nearest trash bin while she carried the boxes all the way to her kitchen. There's no way she'll throw the cupcakes, they are food, especially, her favorite. She placed them inside her refrigerator while one box stayed on her coffee table. She came back into her living room with a glass of water. It's weekend that's why she's just chilling in her penthouse.
Rhounzi sat on her couch and turned on the television as she was planning to watch some movies to shove her boredom away. When the television opened, it was on channel 2 and a news report is airing live. Reporters and police vehicles are scattered around a familiar condominium building and a police line was hung on its main entrance. The scene got her interest.
"Mhm, I think I've seen this before...?"
As usual, she didn't mind that and brushed her thoughts away while she focuses on eating her cupcakes while her eyes are watching attentively. Her eyes almost left her when she saw a very familiar woman's face on the news. She even stopped chewing because of the sudden realization she got.
'That's her! The woman who kept on seducing Hazard! I even saw her stole a kiss from him before!'
Rhounzi's mouth hung open when she saw a woman's body being dragged out of the condominium building with a stretcher. Looks like she's barely alive but her state isn't good. Rhounzi couldn't even recognize her!
She felt bad even though they didn't have a nice interaction but still, her irritation wouldn't fade off easily. The news reporter was stating that the woman's condominium is as clean as white. The police couldn't determine the suspect's motives and intention, however, it seems that the suspect only wants to teach her a lesson. Her room was also vandalized with foul words such as slut, whore, shameless, bitch, and other vulgar words.
The cameraman was doing a montage around her condominium but something caught Rhounzi's eye, three boxes of Liliams bake shop, the same shop where her favorite cupcakes came from.
Rhounzi scoffed, "why am I even surprised? He's a bastard. Of course, he also entertained her. God, I should have expected this."
Now, her appetite vanished. She placed the cupcake she only bit once on the box.
However, weeks later, women around their city suddenly went missing one by one and from the relative cities as well. Rhounzi got nosy when she noticed something, she's familiar with all the missing ladies. Some of them were famous as they were actresses, models, idols, and relatively related to well-known politicians. The weirdest part is, that Rhounzi caught them all together with Hazard!
Rhounzi is the type of person who only minds her own business but she got caught up with her beliefs when shocking news reached the whole country, especially, her. One of the missing women was found dead, the politician's niece. Her body was floating on her own uncle's fishing pond with horrifying words carved on her body which terrified Rhounzi the most.
"I'm a slut!"
"FUCK ME, PLS!"
"Whore!"
"Fucktard!"
"My cunt is wider than ur fuckin' imagination!"
Vulgar and insulting words were harshly carved onto her skin, all over her body. However, one sentence caught my eyes and was enough to make me shiver.
"Please, come back."
"I LOVE YOU!"
Rhounzi is more than familiar with those words as if it was also completely carved into her mind. She took her phone and immediately dialed the number she never thought she'll contact again. In just one ring, the person on the other line answered as if he was waiting for her.
"Houn, my love..." Rhounzi's throat went dry when she heard his voice. He had a deep voice but the way he spoke is so soft and full of tenderness.
"Hazard." Rhounzi's firm and feisty way of calling his name made Hazard on the other line smile, satisfied. He really missed her.
With a triumphant smile, Hazard spoke. "Have you forgiven me now, my love? Did you like my peace offering? I missed you..."
Rhounzi gasped from what she discovered. She didn't even notice that her phone fell on her hand which created a loud noise. Unbothered by her cracked phone screen, her eyes stared at the pictures of those women who went missing. With a shaky hand, she took her phone with a cracked screen and dialed his number again. Her grip on her phone created cuts on her palm because of how she was gripping it. The cracked and uneven parts of her phone screen and her phone hugged her palm neatly, resulting in a minimal flow of blood from her cuts to her phone. With blood flowing through her phone, Hazard's name was also covered in blood, and later on, his loving voice met her hearing sensors once again.
"Houn-"
"Where the fuck are they, Hazard?" she asked with a hint of lividity.
Rhounzi has now come to a realization about Hazard's real persona; how hazardous he could be just to get her back. She loved a Hazardous man and now... her heart wouldn't stop wreaking havoc even though it can clearly see the caution sign her mind kept on playing.
"Oh, god... This feeling seems more rather hazardous than Hazard himself."
"Babe, please! I swear to god, I didn't kiss her back! I love you, babe. Please, don't leave me... I love you..."Even though my heart wants to forgive him badly, I refused to follow it. I would never let a man hurt me twice, once is enough. I cherish myself more than anyone because no one would do so. I only have myself, myself is enough. Loving myself is more worth it than loving a gluttony man for sex.I maintained my stoic look without wavering my eye away from his. "You should have thought about that when you were busy devouring her disgusting filler. I'm done with your fucked up reasons, Falcon. We're done." As I stated those words, he ran towards the kitchen and came back while giving me a menacing look which I returned in an instant. He pointed a kitchen knife in my direction with a threatening look. I didn't give in even though I was surprised by his unexpected actions. I expected him to accept it calmly as he doesn't seem to love me truthfully, it was only my looks."Take th
I stared at the enormous condominium building in front of me from my car. It's been two days since my last interaction with Hazard. I wasn't actually planning to help him regarding his belonging but guilt kept on creeping me out every day. Besides, he has completely galvanized me and I'm literally trying to restrain myself from re-taking his calling card inside the trash bin.Yes, I threw it. That shit kept me all night that day! I want a peaceful one, I just broke up with Falcon for Pete's sake. Why am I acting like this, anyway? I should be sulking because he cheated on me but surprisingly, I didn't. I never did, even when this has happened before. I have always kept in my mind that I should be happy as I don't have such a man around me anymore. Yes, that's right. That's the reason why I ain't sulking, yes. That's certainly valid.Since my break-up with Falcon, that bastard never gave me a stress-free day. Usually, when I wake up, I eat first before heading directly to the gym. It
I looked at my hands, I can see dry marks of blood on them. Its color isn't fresh dark red anymore because it's been a couple of hours since that incident inside the parking lot. I didn't know that it could turn into a horrifying experience for me. I... I thought it was just a normal argument, a normal fight between exes, and ex-lovers. Nevertheless, I was completely wrong. I was dumb, I kept on trying to avoid being like her. The thought of me, being superior and fierce was like a key for me to prevent being like my deceased mother. I was so scared to die in vain like her, I was so scared to experience her horrifying life, that my mind didn't even think that I'm just a human being, that there are times that I'm weak, that there is someone who can suppress me... Because of my unrealistic ideals, I almost got raped by my fucking ex-lover. At that time, there was only one thing that crossed my helpless mind, to escape. I wanted to escape whatever it takes, even if I look dumb, helpless,
I SIGHED as I read the contract Gheuver gave me. I never know how this bitch got this. He isn't that company's representative or anything but he had always been the one in charge, he took care of everything. When I asked him, he answered with a cheeky grin. I know he's up to no good but I don't have any predictions as he has been unpredictable since I got to know him. Tomorrow is my flight, everything went according to his plan. He successfully lured me into his trap and I ain't planning to give in. My decision during that time was made out of impulse, all of us were shocked by my decision but whenever I remember Minnette's mother, her sweet and gentle smile while having a conversation with me, I couldn't leave. I wanted to but my conscience wouldn't let me. Since yesterday, when I told gheuver about my decision, he literally almost threw a party. However, when I saw Madethy's sigh, I stopped him. His secretary and personal assistant are so done with him but she never left. She has be
My whole day has been busy since we landed in a different country. I didn't even bother asking what country this is as I have been too preoccupied. Good thing, everything was already prepared. We already had a place to reside while we were staying here. Gheuver already took care of everything or perhaps, Madethy did? Gheuver seems pretty close with our agency's owner. I stared at the vast ceiling while my mind ran around, trying to think of anything in order to defeat that so-called boredom. I can just use my phone but it's not even interesting. I don't use social media but I have my own accounts even though I don't use them. I only created one because we need it as per what Gheuver and our manager stated, to create a better audience. I have only opened my social media accounts once and that's when I created them. I don't want to post my pictures but Minnette said that it is required for us, so we can promote our agency and the products that were modeling for. As much as possible, I
"What happened to your eyes? Your eyelids seem off. Did you cry?" Madethy asked when I opened the door for her as she knocked. I thought it wasn't noticeable. Damn. I need to act normal. I ought to finish this instead of breaking down in fear and resentment. I gotta move forward but it isn't easy. I need to take it easy but I shouldn't let my past intervene with my future. I shook my head, declining my assumptions. "It's normal. My eyes get puffy when I don't get enough sleep or when I sleep too late," I explained. That's true, though. I don't know if I lied or told the truth; maybe, half? She nodded, buying my half-lie, half-truth. "Gheuver told me to check on you and to remind you about the call time. You know him. Though, even if he didn't tell me, I'll still check on you," she smiled and me either. "Thanks," I replied. "Are going to dine in here?" she asked. "I won't, Dria and the others invited me. Would you like to join us?" I offered so she won't get bored with Gheuver. Kn
"SWEETHEART, you're undeniably charismatic!" Andrus' voice echoed inside the whole room. I awkwardly replied with a smile. Krestie clapped her hands while gazing at my face as if she was satisfied with her work. "I have never loved my profession this much," she mumbled. "I guess, her face is inspiring just as her roots." I don't know how to respond to their unusual comments that's why I acted like it was nothing and just stood up to get dressed. "I have to go, I need to get dressed. Thank you, I really appreciate it!" Andrus and Krestie came closer to hug me and tried to calm my nerves as much as they could to relieve the so-called nervousness. Soon after their hug, the other hair stylist hugged me as well while whispering their encouraging words. I really appreciate these people even though I'm not comfortable with their previous comments, though they look like a compliment. "Is this your first runway walk? Gosh, you must be nervous!" "Girl, I'm telling you! You'll manage to p
"Damn, girl! Are you sure that this is your first runway walk?" "Fuck! You slayed it!" "I'm telling you, girl! This is the beginning! Don't forget me, huh!" "SHEEZ! I actually got scared..." Those are the words I heard when I entered backstage along with other models. They were beaming with such delights while praising my walk which surprised me. I never got this reaction from a crew when I was still doing runway modeling... Though some of them weren't as happy as they are, these actions and reactions fluttered my heart. The was coming to its end. I could hear Gheuver out on stage, speaking for his brand. He never told me about this, I should be mad but surprisingly, I'm far from being mad. Honestly, I'm actually proud of how successful this show turned out, and I'm rooting for his success, as a designer not only as a professional photographer. We've been together since that day when no one even cares about me, my side, my story. Though he didn't pretty focused on my past, I'm th
