Chapter Six

I felt someone tugging me at the odd hour of the night. We had a long day because of course, the Nulls orientation has started. I was long gone in my slumber,

and you already know, if there's something I hate that much, it is being interrupted while sleeping. I unconsciously got angry but my instinct told me it is unusual, immediately, I pick up my pillow to defend myself, it was the only thing I could get my hands on. Looking clearly as my sleepy eyes wore off, I noticed it was Mercury. I brought down my pillow, calming my already alarmed soul as I slid my hands to my temple to relax my brows.

I opened my eyes wide in surprise as I whispered to her to avoid waking Yuvonne who was sleeping above me;

"How the fuck did you get in here and what are you doing up at this time?"

"The door opened when I turned the knob. Helion you need to come with me, now" She replied in whispers.

Still on her eyes aid at that time of the night, I knew Mercury's eye defect was actually a serious one. She had a dead serious face as she was trying to pull me out of the bed.

"Okay, easy I am with you"

I said as I put on my hoodie as quickly as possible and followed her out.

I was careful in closing the door, so as not to wake Yuvonne.

Out of the dormitory, everywhere was stone dead like a grave. I was not so scared but being outside the dorm by that time seemed absurd.

"What's up Mercury, where are we heading to?"

I asked her as she held my hand so I will be in her pace. She held out her torch light, walking as fast as possible.

"To the Alpha's camp. I need to be sure I am still sane and sober, I feel like I have lost my shit"

When we arrived the Alpha's camp, at the very end of it, there were lights coming out of the corners of the giant door she told me about earlier, then I looked keenly, dimming my eyes to be sure I am not in a kind of dream, I started drawing back as I saw a silhouette of a chain, a huge chain that looked like it came from the end of an anchor. The door as Mercury earlier said is actually a big metal door almost blending to the wall, if you don't look well, you will hardly notice. Mercury wears eyes aid but she sure could see.

"This is not fucking happening"

I muttered to myself looking around to see if I could find the actual chain casting the shadow. I couldn't see nothing.

"It is the reflection of the chain missing on the third anchor at the reception, I suspect. But the weird thing is, the chain is not in sight, so how the hell is the shadow casting? ThankGod you are seeing it, I would have seen the doctor come tomorrow"

"At this point we both need to see a fucking doctor, let's get out of here." I turned to leave as my eyes captured something again. Ah! the Latino writing on the corner of the wall.

I stopped abruptly as Mercury followed my eyes to where it was held. She was trying to understand why I suddenly stopped moving.

"Helion, what are you seeing?"

I turned to her in surprise as I asked her, pointing at the wall.

"Can't you see the writing on the wall?"

She adjusted her eyes aid looking closely, she gasped and started moving towards the wall as if being drawn by a force.

"Are you alright, Mercury?" I asked her feeling a little bit unease, looking around to be sure we are alone.

"Yes, I am. The Viking runes, it is the old Viking runes," she said more like to herself as she touched each word like she knew them from somewhere.

"Oh okay, I use to think it's uhmm a Latin kind of writing, maybe I am so dumb to know."

"Do you understand it?" I asked being optimistic,

"My great grandfather, he was a sailor, and he taught me the basics of this language, before he passed away. He said they used it for communication during the war back then, but the language is no longer in use today."

"Are you saying the language is extinct?"

I asked, this time, very keen.

"That's the word, Hel, EXTINCT. I know the basics, it's a good start you know. I stopped learning when he died, but I have the Viking's language book with me. My mum packed all my books, I am sure it will be in the box." She said as she came towards me.

"Weren't you searched the day we came here?"

I asked her.

"C'mon now Hel, they are books not a dildo or some canned foods"

We started making our way out of the red beret's camp. Then, there came a loud moan and a continuous thudding coming from the Alpha's head office. At first, we hid, but then we came out to peep through the window, to know what it was. It was the alpha's head and the refectory chief, Lord George Sky having the night of their lives. They were backing us, so they were never aware of our presence.

"What the fuck?"

Yuvonne exclaimed as I closed her mouth with my palms and took her out of the hall.

"Wait, was that George Sky in there? This is unbelievable"

Mercury uttered to her disbelief.

"What's there not to believe anyway?

She is a human with blood veins and not some mannequin. I hope she survives the banging, that was too much energy"

I said as we laughed and went to our dorm.

"Hey, remember to study the uhmm what do you call it?"

"The Viking language book?"

Mercury chipped in.

I snapped my fingers and agreed

"Exactly, the Viking whatever. Goodnight Mercury"

I made for my room.

"Goodnight Helion"

I went in and Yuvonne has not moved. I slowly lay down and closed my eyes as everything that happened that day played in my head. Then I dozed off.
