Waylen nodded understandingly and settled back into his seat, humming a tune to himself. Larisa couldn't help but feel grateful for his presence, for the simple joy of being his mother.

She took a deep breath and tried to push all of her worries and doubts aside, focusing on the road ahead. She was determined to get home safely, to tuck Waylen into bed, and to get some much-needed rest herself.

Larisa arrived home and helped Waylen get ready for bed, giving him a warm bath and reading him a story. As she tucked him in and kissed him goodnight, she couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness at the thought of Marcellus.

"Mommy, are you okay?" Waylen asked, noticing the sadness in his mom's eyes.

Larisa forced a smile and brushed his hair away from his forehead. "Yes, sweetie. I'm just a little tired," she lied.

Waylen looked at her with concern, but Larisa quickly changed the subject, asking him about his day at school. They chatted for a few more minutes before she finally said goodnight
