A promise

Wilder spent the evening with Gloria, he was smiling not because he was happy but because he didn’t want her to see him mourning. He wanted her last moment to be filled with smiles and happiness.

It was sunset already and they had to return home. Wilder didn’t feel like leaving, he wished they could live there forever and forget about the world but Gloria urged him to pack up things.

With his hand intertwined with hers, they both walked towards the car, silence descending as both got sucked into their thoughts.

Wilder opened the car and Gloria got in, she placed his head on her lap. She began brushing his hair softly while singing the lullaby he loved when he was a kid.

Tears were streaming down Wilder’s cheek as he closed his eyes and listened to her calm voice. She was the only woman he had genuinely before getting his mate.

They arrived at the pack house and Wilder helped Gloria get out of the car. Ella rushed forward, trying to grab Gloria’s second hand but Gloria ignored her
