CHAPTER TWO.

ATHAN’s POV

After I am done with Imogen , I make my way out of the dungeon still angry. Imogen is one of my most trusted weapons and seeing her behave in such a way makes me want to kill her. Announcing I am her mate and even running away when I rejected her? She must think I am an easy going person just because we have never had that kind of encounter before. Well, she is in for a big shock. Imogen is a good weapon and losing her will definitely affect the blade but it is better than letting her get away with what she did, I am not that benevolent.

My thoughts are interrupted when I feel someone run up to me and when I turn, I see silver.

Silver is my best trained assassin and the number one upper rank blade. I have trained him to be ruthless and follow the guidelines I have set for Aqua blade religiously.

“Master” he calls out to me and I nod while still walking away.

“Tell me silver, why are you here?” I ask, “Aren’t you supposed to be training some of the new recruits?” I added in a voice almost devoid of any emotions, “are you slacking off?”

“Of course not master Athan” he quickly responds, “I am here to ask about Imogen . Is there a way we can save her?”

My forehead crease into a slight frown and I stop moving before turning my attention to him,

“What are you saying?”I can feel from the tone of his voice that he is much more concerned about Imogen than he is saying, which is somewhat annoying. I train my assassins to be ruthless and devoid of any kind of emotional feelings at all, why the heck is he talking like he has feelings for her?

“She was obviously set up, boss,” Silver answers, “she was drugged. A lot of people are jealous of Imogen because she is your favourite and this is why they are trying to eliminate her. She has served aqua blade well for so many years now, how can she even do this?”

I went silent for a while, it seems silver didn’t understand the gravity of Imogen ’s offence.

“Not only did she announce to everyone that I am her mate silver, she even tried escaping when I rejected her. Do you think I will forgive that kind of insolent behaviour?” The veins on my neck are already standing out at the thought of what Imogen has done, how dare she?

“I don’t need a disobedient blade member silver and I will kill her without hesitation if she doesn’t complete taskS”

At the mention of taskS, I see Silver's eyes open wide in surprise. I know he is surprised but this is my decision.

“I am only going to spare her if she completes taskS and if she fails, I will wipe out her whole existence from the face of the earth”

“But master, how…” his voice trails off when I smack him hard across the face.

“What is rule 101, silver?” I ask him.

“Be ruthless” he manage to answer with a calm voice, “master….” He tries to talk again but I quickly interrupt him.

“It is almost an impossible mission for someone of her rank to accomplish but I will give her the benefit of a doubt. I trained her well over the past years, let me see if she is really capable or I have to do away with her”

“Master, I”

He tries to talk again but I cut him short, at this point he was annoying,

“Do as I have said silver and don’t ask me questions, you don’t want to receive the same punishment as her, do you?”

He heave a sigh and didn’t say anything, taking that as his final answer I walk away with anger still surging through my veins.

After leaving silver, I make my way towards my chambers and before I get into my room I pass by the training courtyard and I see a few of the assassins training so rigorously even without Imogen which pleased me. I can make a hundred or even a thousand Imogen s if I so wish and no one is going to stop me.

“Greetings master” one of them passes by me with her blade in hand and I nod without saying anything as I watch her join the others. Aqua blade is not a place to slack off and I am going to teach anyone a lesson who thinks he or she can do that.

After watching them train for a while, I finally make my way into my chambers and this is when I see Brown who just brought my evening herbal tea for me.

Brown has been with me the longest and aside from this, he is also a chef and the only person who is very close to me.

“I brought you, your tea” he announced and I nod before lowering myself on the bed, I am not in the mood to even take tea at all.

“You look so stressed master, why?”

“Are you asking because you don’t know or because you just want to get me to talk?” I ask while fixing my eyes on him, “which of them?”

His lips curl up in a gentle smile while he walks up to me and hand me the tea,

“You know exactly what I am talking about master” he replies, “why are you afraid of taking her as your mate? Don’t you think it is high time you move on and forget about the past? You are letting it hunt you and it is messing with your present”

In the entire aqua blade, Brown is the only one who knows a few things about me. He is the only person who can say more than five things about me and sometimes I wish he didn’t know so much. How can he even….

“You can’t keep doing this to yourself master, it has been years since she passed away and you are still stuck on the idea of her, don't you….

“Brown” I cut him short as I stand up from the bed and walk towards my window. The moon in the sky was half and its magnificent beauty intrigued me. This was what determines the life of a wolf and I was still fascinated by it even after so many years. I have a special liking for the moon maybe because..

I drift my thoughts from that area and turn to Brown again who is directly behind me.

“That long is not enough time to make me forget her Brown and I don’t intend on doing that. Don’t ever bring this topic up again” I warn, “I will destroy and wipe out anything that looks or sounds like a second chance from the moon goddess, do you hear me?”

“Of course master” he nods, “I will leave you be now”

Not bothering to answer him, I turn my attention back on the moon as a feeling of nostalgia envelopes me. I have tried closing that chapter of my life but it seems I am meant to live with it for as long as I breathe.

If only they know the kind of person I am. There are times when I also get scared of the kind of person I am. The kind that none of them ever thought of, the kind that makes even the Darkshadow pack easy for me to trample on.

As I continue to gaze upon the moon, another fresh anger comes from the darkness within me and I grab my sword before making my way out of the room.

The courtyard is still filled with the new recruits and the moment they see me, they all stop to pay their respects to me. While a few of the blade members were supervising them, silver is nowhere to be found.

Hissing silently, I clear my throat.

“Today I will personally train you”

At the mention of that, I can see them whispering to themselves. They must be amazed that the master will want to train them himself.

“This is the first time you have come to train with us, master” one of them speaks up and my eyes darken at her statement which makes her shudder back in fear.

“Get your swords ready” I announce, my voice is ruthless and cold, devoid of any kind of emotions whatsoever.

“This is not going to be any easy training. You fight like you are in war, you fight me with all your strength” I pause for a while as I study their faces then I continue, “this time around, you either fight and beat me or I kill you. This time around, you fight me to the death”
