"I have a surprise for both of you," I announced, calling my kids over as Rue and I returned to the resort.

I was lying on my bed, exhausted from swimming.

"Really, Mommy?" Addison and Aiden asked eagerly. I could already imagine their eyes shining with excitement.

"Yes, I'll give them to you when I come back," I promised.

"Yay!" they exclaimed at the same time. Hearing their happy voices seemingly took all my exhaustion away.

I spent some time dozing off after the exhausting swim in the sea. Eventually, I stirred awake when a knock sounded on my door. It was Cecilia.

"How was your swim with Rue?" she inquired.

"It was fine," I replied, keeping my response brief.

I felt the urge to add more, to say "it was fine, I just relapsed a little bit" but I held back.

Cecilia smiled at me warmly.

"We've set up a simple beach feast outside. Let's all eat together," she invited.
