Chapter Fifty

Ethan took a deep shuddering breath when he felt Saira's hand pull from his and he turned his head to look at her. He watched her take a step back, watched her swallow as she stared at the baby in Jeanette's arms. The baby who was his exact replica except that his eyes were green like Jeanette's and he had blonde hair like her but it was a given, even without conducting a DNA test that DJ was his biological son.

"Saira?" His voice was shaky as she took another step back. Was she leaving?

"Um..." She paused, looking everywhere else but at him. "You should um... go upstairs and finish this."

Ethan backed Jeanette, completely forgetting about her and focusing on his wife who looked like she wanted to be anywhere else but in the lobby at that moment.

"We can talk about this. Don't leave." He pleaded as she continued backing away from him.

"I have to go." She turned and ran down the opposite direction towards the fire exit.

"Saira!" He called and made to run after her but Jeanette's voice
