Meeting his Mother

The rain started around six in the evening. Sparkling raindrops were continually tapping against the glass pane, creating an entrancing and serene acoustic thrumming sound.

Emma was alone in the living room, staring out the huge glass window that overlooked the garden. The view was exquisite.

The sky looked darker and gloomier. Hypnotic even! The eerie silence, the swaying trees, and the raindrops hitting and dripping off the leaves before soaking into the ground could pull one into a trance.

Emma ensconced herself in the woolen blanket and sat on the sofa, her legs up. She had been downstairs since morning. Had helped the maids in the kitchen, talked to James for an hour, gone for an afternoon stroll in the garden, and was now sitting alone watching the clouds pour furiously.

For her, it was better than staying alone with him in the room.

He was home today. Had awoken a couple of hours ago which was unusual for the man as he was an early riser and usually gets up before her. When
