Part 2: Chapter 30

(A few days later: Saturday; evening)

Tying up the balloons in the living room, I tried to finish the decorations as quickly as I could. My mom would be arriving home in a few moments and we were preparing a surprise party for her. Helping me out was Patrick, who was outside hanging a banner at the doorstep. I heard him descend from the stool he was using and soon enough, he was peeking through the door.

" I'm through..." He announced and I smiled. Standing back, I stared at the decorations.

" I think I'm done as well," I said and he grinned. Looking at the cookies on the center table, his eyes widened.

" Hmm... This looks delicious. Mind if I try some?"

" Only one cookie. " I warned and he laughed.

" I'm sure I won't be stopping at one. " He muttered before gobbling up some.
