Esme's POV

Ethan's lips stretched in a smile which quickly escalated to a full on laugh.

It was beautiful, seeing him laugh like this. This is the first time I've seen him laugh freely and genuinely.

"The words that come out of your mouth can be so funny at times, you know that?

I've told you before to get rid of that silly fantasy you have. I won't be able to love you and I don't need your love, it'll just be a burden. There is no happy ending for us, there never was and there never will be. You can keep holding on to that false belief for as long as you can but eventually, reality will come crashing down on you."
