I had woken up to the smell of corn cakes, eggs, and bacon. Bris's pillow had been shoved in her place within my arms and I scowled. I sat up pulling on my sweats, grumpy for being deprived of my soul's sustenance so early. My stomach growled hungrily as I entered the kitchen, the hollow of it checking itself as I watched her bend to pull something out of the oven, in that damned short as hell, pale green nighty, if you could call it that, her ass exposed to me. Beau had brought her home the scrap of fabric while I was away. She set the cookie tray of biscuits on the counter and jumped when she saw me. She bit her lip and it had become apparent I was looking at her like an animal who would devour her. Those lips of hers parted, her eyes a lure that had urged me to stalk forward with a predator's gait.
