Chapter 05: A Revelation.

Annalise's POV

"Why can't you both just believe me that I treated a man who was sick?" I asked with a frown.

"Let's agree you treated a man who was sick all by yourself. Why didn't we see anyone when we came in?" Mother asked as she tried not to chuckle.

I pouted, I did treat someone. I somehow slept off staring at the handsome man who was lying next to me. I don't know if I slept off but the next time I woke up, it was Grandma's call.

When I asked about the man, they kept asking who I was talking about. When I woke up, I couldn't find the handsome man beside me any longer. He was gone, and his wheelchair was gone too.

"He left before I woke up," I responded.

"But you also said he was crippled, right? How is it that he saw himself out without any help from you? I didn't help him nor did you?" Grandma asked Mother who shook her head also, she was laughing. They don't believe me.

I've been trying to convince them since last night but they don't believe me. I had even shown them the herbs I had made. Grandma had asked what herbs I had used, and when I told her she sighed, shaking her head in pity.

I know he didn't die. He must have left after waking up.

"I swear I had helped a man, I swear," I continued trying to convince them when we heard the sound of cars.

We all stared at one another as where we were was a reserved area. No one came here other than we three and we were complete here. So who was coming?

It was when we saw the number of cars that were stopping in front of our small hut that Grandma quickly said,

"Hide,"

We all rushed inside the house making sure to close the windows and doors. Through the window, I counted the number of cars that had come to a halt in front of our small house.

"Six of them!" I whispered. And the six of them were all black!

What the hell?!? I mentally screamed.

The doors to the cars opened and men in black suits and black glasses stepped out. They were shiny from top to bottom, well dressed but looked like those assassins from the movies.

Were they here to kill us?

One of them went to the car in the middle and opened it. The first thing we saw was the black expensive shoe that touched the ground. Mother gasped when the man finally stepped out. Both I and grandma turned to her,

"Do you know him?" We whispered simultaneously and Mother nodded.

"Who?" Grandma asked before I could. We kept waiting for Mother to reply but she didn't. Instead, she kept staring at the man.

"Vivian, who is he? Do we have to run?" Grandma asked again but Mother's gaze remained outside staring at the man with wide eyes.

"Mom?" I called when we noticed the man was close. Grandma was already making her way to the back door when Mother muttered,

"That's George Donald, Annalise's father," She wheezed in her trance.

Grandma froze and so did I. My what?

'I had a father?' I mentally asked and almost slapped myself when I realized the question I had asked myself. I used to ask my mother about my father when I was little, but she always told me I was fine without him so I stopped asking even though I wanted to know

"I told you he would come searching for you one day," Grandma said with a wide smile. What's going on? I wondered. I knew nothing but they didn't seem to be scared anymore. Instead, Grandma was already on her way to the door.

There was a knock on the door and I snapped my eyes at the door. He was knocking. My father was knocking

Grandma immediately opened,

"Welcome George, we've been waiting for you?"

"Where is she?" He asked. His voice was desperate and demanding at the same time.

Grandma gave way for him to come in and he did. I was standing very close to my mother, she was staring right back at him as he walked over to where we stood.

The man looked at me with curiosity and suddenly, a low gasp escaped from his mouth as if a realization just dawned on him.

"Vivian, we had a child together?" He asked. His eyes were staring at me but he was speaking to mother. My father didn't know I was born?

"Well… umm, we did," I heard mother say after clearing her throat. He didn't care what she said, instead, he continued to look at me. He was staring exceptionally at me.

"Did you or did you not treat a crippled man yesterday?" He asked and my eyes widened. How did he know? Was he the crippled man?

"I… I… did," I replied and his face broke into a wide smile,

"My daughter. The daughter of my youth!"

"Henry!" He called and a man in a black suit rushed to his side.

"Master!"

"Make the call. She is the one. She is my daughter. I want the ball to be the talk of the town and far beyond. Tomorrow, I am going to announce my daughter's existence to the world"
