Chap 6: Relationship

Lily followed her parents down the corridor. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor can be seen furious. Mrs. Taylor noticed Lily in the back, dumbfounded, and assumed she was upset by Venn's words. They had to put up with this contempt for everyone because their family background was not as good as Edward's. Is there any mother who does not suffer in order for her daughter to experience such warmth?

" Lily, don't be depressed! Venn just said that but meant nothing else! He is probably too preoccupied with his work to set a reasonable time, and he is afraid that it will affect him, so he simply wants to postpone the engagement! Don't worry, Mom and Dad will speak with the Edwardians once more!"

" Everything is fine! I also believe Venn's statement is correct! Some of the rituals you haven't learned yet should not be rushed. I'm afraid I'll embarrass my parents if I get engaged now!" -Lily rushed to comfort Lady Taylor, knowing that they had high hopes for this marriage. It's just a shame that she and Venn are both lovers of freedom, and since marriage is a long-term commitment, she finds it difficult to fall in love with him right now. Okay. Lily was confident that she couldn't catch Venn's attention. After all, the gap between the two was still too wide.

" Uncle and auntie!"- The three-person family was about to enter the elevator downstairs when they heard a voice behind them. Lily pondered Venn's slow approach, wondering what he was doing out here.

" What's the matter, Venn?" - Mr. Taylor looked at the young man in front of him; Venn's age was similar to Elmer's, but his business acumen astounded him. He was able to build a technology corporation that reached beyond New York, accounting for half of the US technology business market, something no one else can do at the age of 25.

" Uncle, I'm sorry if my words just now made everyone unhappy. I just want more time to get to know Lily! You won't hold it against me, will you?"

"How can I blame you if that's the case?" I have no idea if you want to be free in marriage, you kids have modern thinking! - Mr. Taylor waved his hand to express his happiness; the other party has already stated the same; if he continues to compare, isn't it bullying children?

" Could I please speak with Lily for a moment? Anyway, the chances of you and Lily meeting are slim!"

When Venn finished speaking, all three pairs of eyes turned to the Lily faction. Was this putting all the pressure on her? She took a step back unconsciously.

"What exactly do you mean?"- Lady Taylor inquired, taking her hand in hers. Lily looked at her expectant eyes, and the words of refusal escaped her lips:

"All right! I also want to talk to Venn!"- However Lily don't know Venn's thinhking but she can't refuse him.

Everything was predetermined, Venn extended his hand to invite her, Lily smiled and walked in the direction he indicated. She walked with Venn to the back of the flower garden, surrounded by admiring gazes. Although Lily is a radiant beauty, she is overshadowed and lacks charm when she stands next to Venn. Lily sighed, accepting her fate; having such a wonderful fiance was overwhelming.

"Please take a seat!"-Venn gave Lily a thoughtful look. Nobody knows what's going on in your head! Anyway, Lily is not a delicate girl; she has no idea what the other party is up to.

"I'm not sure what you want to tell me."

"Relax! I do not eat you!" - Venn looked at Lily, who was always on the defensive, and laughed before pouring a glass of wine for her. Lily took his wine glass and sat silently waiting for him to speak.

"I'd like to hear your thoughts on our engagement! How should we go about it, in your opinion?"

"Venn, I discovered you're very good at delegating responsibility to others! Why don't you tell me what you're thinking first?" - She stated, clearly rolling her eyes. He should be the one to come up with a solution, but instead he asks her everything.

"Because I know Miss Lily will come up with more valuable ideas" -Venn  said as he lightly fingered the table. He knew she wasn't some arbitrary doll that people played with the moment he met her. Don't mistake her timidity for fear, she simply loves peace, so she displays weakness and humility.

"Mr. Venn, when did you start taking me seriously? I remember you calling me a beggar when we first met! At that time, you were very disdainful, even when I talked to you, you didn't even answer. I know you never really respected me. So now you want me to take care of everything?"

Venn is embarrassed when he recalls this, but who can blame him? After all, Lily was just like the beggars he met on the street at the time.

"The past does not have to be repeated in this manner! I have no ill will toward you either! How do you feel about our engagement backfiring?"

If the adults from the two families witnessed this spontaneous conversation between her and Venn, they would be taken aback. They were both shy and timid in front of everyone before, but now they are like old friends. Nobody could have predicted this contrast.

"Do I have the authority to make a decision? Isn't everything in your plan? It's entirely up to you whether to postpone or cancel!" - When Lily finished speaking, Venn's face darkened. He looked up at her, his eyes no longer seeing the cheerfulness they had before, but rather a little anger and contempt.

"Very well put! Miss Lily is so kind! If that's the case, I'm not interested in hearing your thoughts." - Venn stood up and brushed his sleeve before departing. Lily walked away from the scene. Lily was perplexed, not understanding what was going on, and she sat there perplexed for a long time.
