Between heirs

"Couldn't you change his mind?" Anne asks, staring at me with a corner smile.

I had just entered the company and as usual, Anne was waiting for me at the door, ready to walk me into the office as she did every morning. Like everyone else, she had noticed my frown.

"He is loving this arranged marriage and has suggested that the wedding take place in less than a month". Serious reply.

I walked through the lobby and everyone moved out of my way as soon as they saw me. Some looked at me with their regular looks of fear and others with curiosity.

"And what are you going to do?" Anne asks as we enter the elevator.

Anne was my childhood friend, the only one brave enough to fill me with questions while I clearly didn't have the patience to answer them.

"If you have any ideas I'd love to hear them". Responding with irony.

We arrived at the fourteenth floor, where my office was.

"Don't you have any proof that he is a complete good-for-nothing?" Anne asks, looking confused.

I sigh, remembering my big mistake.

"The idiot wasn't my fiancé, but his brother. Thomas Conner who is the bastard". Answering stopping at the run, getting hateful just at the mention of his name.

"My God Caty". She speaks surprised. "Don't worry, we'll think of something".

She seemed confident, unlike me. I walk back to my office and as soon as I open the door I have a vision worthy of hell.

"What the hell is this?" I ask loudly, staring at him with hatred.

"Good morning my beautiful bride". Thomas answers with his usual irony and smile that increased my impatience.

"What are you doing here?" I ask, stepping closer and looking at him with my arms crossed.

He was sitting in my chair and on the table, there were some papers. Beside him were two men, who were taking the documents from the place and putting them in boxes.

"Knowing the environment I'm going to work in, any problems?" He asked, looking at me from head to toe and focusing on the neckline of my blouse, making me roll my eyes.

I move closer to him, glaring at him.

"I am the Montanari heiress, this chair is mine!" I speak a little lower, but firm and serious.

"And I am your future husband and I would have to take over the company". Seriously spoken. "But don't worry, I can make you secretary. You'll be great to work with". Speaks mischievously, licking his lips as he looks down at my cleavage again.

I roll my eyes and walk over to his side, controlling myself so I don't end up committing murder.

"You have five seconds to get up from my seat". I'm close to him.

He then stands up, approaching me. We stare at each other for a while, dueling glances, and then he smiles.

"You are Miss Montanari". Speaks raising his hands in surrender. "For now this is yours, but you'd better be content. In a few weeks you will be my wife and I will be the CEO of both companies".

"Not if you're dead". I speak, and then I flash an innocent smile.

He smiles, that's all. He smiles because he knows that it makes me even more uncontrollable.

"Don't worry about my safety dear bride". He begins his speech with irony. "Something I can guarantee is that we will spend a lot of time together". Speaks smiling. "I'm coming to pick you up for lunch, don't get too involved with work". Says leaving the room.

I roll my eyes as I watch him leave.

"Place those boxes on the floor or I'll rip your hands off". I say to the men who were leaving.

They look at me with fear and put the boxes on the floor, quickly leaving my office and making me snort with anger.

"What a son of a bitch". I say, slamming the table and sitting down, trying to calm down.

"Wow".

I hear Anne speak and look at her confused. She had a silly smile on her lips and was fiddling with a folder.

"What is it?" I ask confused, not understanding her.

"Is that really your fiancé?" She asks, and I nod. "My God Caty, are you finding this bad?" She asks, smiling.

"What do you mean Anne?" I ask, looking at her with my arms crossed, not knowing what she was getting at.

"For God's sake Caty, that man is the most handsome I've ever seen". Speaks silly, still shaking herself. "If he smiled at me like that, I'd spread my legs in a second".

I nod, now I understand why she was like that.

"You can take it all for yourself then". I say, seeing which papers that idiot was looking at.

"I'm not a peeper". Speaks sitting in the chair facing my desk. "I just don't understand why you feel so much hatred for him".

"Don't you understand?" I ask louder, not believing what I had just heard.

"You are the daughter and heiress of businessmen, fairy tales don't exist for any of us". She answers seriously. "You should be happy because he's young, he's hot, and you have an overwhelming chemistry. I'm still recovering from what I saw". She says, shaking herself with a smile.

I nod and smile along with her.

"Does your father still want to marry you to the industrial grandfather?" I ask, laughing, as she grimaces.

Edgar Lemos was an industrial investor, half of his investments went down the drain, but others did very well. He was almost 50 years old, but insisted on having a wife under 30. And he chose Anne, who until today was fighting with her parents not to get married.

"Don't even talk about him, he makes me want to vomit". She puts her hand over her mouth, looking really sick.

"Beauty and youth don't mean anything in a marriage, it will be a failure anyway". I'm serious.

"But at least the sex will be good". Anne speaks with a mischievous corner smile.

I roll my eyes, but the memories quickly invade my thoughts. It was a fact, the sex would be wonderful.
