Fall prey to one another

Laura's POV

Confessions. They're such a pain.

Lying down on the bed, I realise the man across my head is nonchalantly silent. Unlike his usually self where he'd kill me with jokes. I found it rather awkward this way. The silence is threatening.

"So... have you found anything about the Banshee attack?"

"If you're asking for any leads in this stupid search, then no. Not yet. We have lost our way." I sit upright.

"Lost your way?" He wasn't exactly the type to forget and forgo. Something was definitely wrong and I was going to find out through this questioning.

"If I may know, why did you order them to come back? The investigation might go on." His head turns towards me. As expected, he has a confused and doubtful expression towards me.
