Betty's return

I and Marcus exchanged glances as they inquired about our son, causing my heart to race. It had been years since we last laid eyes on each other, and now we found ourselves seated in this sterile conference room, accompanied by a social worker and a lawyer, discussing our current circumstances.

"I won't deny it," Marcus stated, his voice filled with seriousness. "We do have a son."

I nodded, feeling a lump forming in my throat. "Yes, our one and only son," I affirmed, my gaze still locked with Marcus.

A rush of memories from our tumultuous marriage flooded my mind. The highs and lows, the love and pain, all leading to our eventual divorce.

The media reporter looked at us with sympathy in her eyes.

"I understand that this must be challenging for both of you," she began, "but it's important to remain neutral for the sake of your son."

Taking a deep breath, I composed myself. "Of course," I replied, "he is our child. We will do whatever it takes to ensure his safety and happiness."
