He carried me into the bedroom and laid me on the bed, his hand gently caressing my face.

"Are you okay?" He asked, his eyes filled with concern. He was worried about me, and the fact touched my heart.

"No," I replied honestly, my voice breaking. "I was so scared. I didn't think that would happen to me. I was so scared he was going to hurt me. I've never been that scared in my entire life."

"I'm sorry," He said. "I'm so sorry, Avelina. This shouldn't have happened. I'm sorry I couldn't keep you safe. I should have kept you safe. If I had known, I wouldn't have left you alone. I'm so sorry."

"It's not your fault," I replied. "You didn't know. You didn't know what was going to happen. Please don't blame yourself. It's not your fault. It's mine. It's my fault. If I had stayed at home and not went anywhere, maybe this wouldn't have happened."

"It's not your fault. Don't say that."

"But it is."
