Grandma was here, and she had come to see me. The pains were still persistent, gnawing at my insides with an intensity that made it difficult to maintain my composure. I had lied to Lily, telling her that I was having cramps. It was a small deception meant to shield her from the truth and prevent her from worrying excessively or making a big fuss. Lily had a tendency to blow things out of proportion, and the last thing I needed was additional stress or attention.

At this point, no one needed to know the full extent of what was happening, except for Grandma. I couldn’t trust anyone else. I wanted to trust Xavier, but I was cautious. In a world where alliances were fragile and power was everything, revealing my vulnerabilities could be dangerous. What if Xavier saw me as a threat to his throne and the loyalty of our people?
