33 Legends of Silver Lake

Monday arrived, and so did my promised visitor. I stopped at the bottom of the stairs I just ran down on, and swiftly adjusted my clothes and my hair.

I had a terrible morning, spending most of it leaning over the toilet, getting rid of the breakfast I hadn’t even eaten, so by now I could only hope to look decent. I took a deep breath and stepped into the library.

“Alpha Jonah,” I called respectfully, and the old man turned to me.

“Moira Conners,” he said solemnly. “I’m happy to see you again, dear,” he smiled.

“You remember me,” I awed, returning his friendly smile.

We only met twice, several years before, so I wasn’t sure if he would remember me. When I called him yesterday, I introduced myself as Duncan’s mate, and he didn’t seem to realize, but now I could tell from his eyes that he actually remembered me.

“Of course I do,” his smile widened. “How could I forget a young lady who beat me so shamefully?”
