It had been three days since I received the worst beating of my life. I felt like I had been run over by a damn semi-truck and broke every bone in my body. I didn't remember much the first day after the beating other than a man wrapping my ribs in bed while Milo stood over him. He had said some things to her afterward that I slowly remembered now. Apparently, I was not to go to the hospital and I was not to go to the police. If I did either of those things, he would make everything even worse.

And I knew he would somehow.

I was finally able to stand on my own as I went into the bathroom and turned on the light. A small note hung on the mirror in Milo's handwriting.

I'm in Seattle on business. The studio is not expecting you, and I want you to stay in your condo. Don't answer your phone or the door. See you in a few days. Xo-M.
