Farren's Point of View

Isabelle stood in front of the window. Turned her mouth into a perfectly round O. She had fallen into her own words. Hadn't realized she had let a detail slip that she shouldn't have. If she had only said Camilo had sent her, my eyebrows wouldn't have raised in suspicion. But now she had more explaining to do than checking up.

Quickly, Isabelle picked up her hands in surrender. Smiled at me with a devilish grin. I cocked up an eyebrow. "Fine. Fine. I see I have an observant one on my hands here," she said with a wink. "Nicolas and I..." She trailed off. Twirled the end of her braid with her index finger. "Well... we are mates. But you can't tell anyone!" The last part was rushed. Said in such a shrill voice I was afraid the rest of the house might hear her.
